Notes on Class Discussions
If the class is mostly a discussion with extensive student involvement, looking for a defined Question, Evidence and Conclusion (see Notes on Non-Technical Course Lectures) will not work.
In this context you will want to:
-
- label the topic of the discussion
- record in bullet form any interesting or insightful points that students make, along with your own insightful points
- record in bullet form any points that the professor makes, and label them differently so you know it was from him/her
Your final product should be no more than a page long, with the topic and a list of insightful comments about that topic.
This advice is taken from How to Become a Straight A Student by Cal Newport.
