Exam Do's and Don'ts
3 Exam Must Do's
-
- Do get a good night’s sleep, and eat well beforehand.
- You don’t want your brain to be fried in caffeine and bouncing off sugar. Trust me, it’s not worth it.
- Do arrive early.
- If you’re late, you’ll be stressed, have less time to write the exam, and you may not be allowed in at all. So don’t risk it.
- Do write your name and ID number on every packet or loose page.
- Yes, losing the second half of your essay in the mound of 300 exams does suck.
- Do get a good night’s sleep, and eat well beforehand.
5 Exam Don'ts
-
- Don't forget to answer the question.
- This is the #1 reason for lost marks.
- Don't go off on a tangent.
- Especially in essay questions, make sure your comments are focused toward the question, not just barfing up everything you know on the topic.
- Don't ignore the value of presentation.
- The occasional misspelling or incorrect grammar isn't something to worry about, but illegible handwriting and tons of errors will affect the marker's opinion of the quality of your work.
- Don't forget to provide enough evidence to prove your point.
- Don't run out of time.
- Make a time budget as soon as you see the exam, and make sure you attempt every question (especially essay questions, which are worth a lot of points).
- Don't forget to answer the question.
